Eligibility

FREDA: Furnishing Resources for Education Development and Achievement

THE FREDA FOUNDATION ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

This is a four-year scholarship of US $1,000.00 each year available to one scholar.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Currently lives in Somerton, St. James or an adjoining community
  • Age 17-25
  • Been accepted in an undergraduate program at an accredited institution
  • Have demonstrable financial hardship

THE FREDA FOUNDATION high school SCHOLARSHIP

This is a one-time scholarship of US $300.00 available to up to three scholars.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Currently enrolled in High School
  • Currently lives in Somerton, St. James or an adjoining community
  • Have demonstrable financial hardship

THE CARSEDGE SOLUTIONS ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP

This is a four-year scholarship of US $500.00 each year available to one scholar.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Currently lives in Somerton, St. James or an adjoining community
  • Age 17-25
  • Been accepted in an undergraduate engineering program at an accredited institution
  • Have demonstrable financial hardship

To apply for our scholarships, please submit the following documents:
  1. A completed application
  2. Copy of acceptance letter from accredited college/university/high school
  3. Two (2) proofs of address
  4. One (1) proof of financial hardship
  5. A personal Statement/Essay: Why you should be awarded the scholarship
  6. Two (2) Letters of Recommendation: Teacher, minister of religion, J.P.,doctor, nurse, inspector of police, councilor/MP, etc.
  7. Maintain a GPA of at least 3.00 each year.

Proofs of Financial Hardship

  1. Job letter from employer
  2. Pay advice/check stubs
  3. Hardship Letter certified by JP, Minister of Religion, other prominent/reputable professional in the community
  4. Any other document you deem useful in this regard (Scholarship Committee reserves the right to determine whether such document is acceptable).

Proofs of Address

  1. Valid photo Identification showing current address
  2. The two (2) most recent months of a utility bill
  3. Report card or other mail from school showing address
  4. Official communication from a business, government agency, etc. (Personal letters not acceptable)

Essay/Personal Statement

  1. In no more than 500 words, explain why you deserve this scholarship.
